Sam Haviland

Sam joined the Primary Care Gambling Service as a communications officer in January 2025. He has multiple years of experience in public health communications, having previously worked in smoking cessation and diabetes prevention services. 

At PCGS, Sam has built relationships with a range of key stakeholders including in the third sector, local authorities, universities, and more. On top of this, Sam also oversees the services digital communications and social media channels. 

Having previously worked across multiple health services, Sam recognises the value in whole system approaches to support those most in need and reduce health inequalities. He uses this knowledge and experience to engage partners and raise awareness of the service. 

Sam also has a British Psychological Society accredited BSc in Psychology from Newcastle University.
